Majlis e Baseerat -

Introduction and service

Importance and necessity of a Think Tank

Discussions on Scientific and intellectual topics play an important role in intellectual development of society. In these meetings questions are answered which arise in young educated minds. Mr Saqib Akbar felt that such discussions should be organized in which young intellectuals and researchers should come and present their thoughts in independent manner and educated youth should participate and express the questions which arise in their minds. Intellectuals and researchers should answer their questions and process of understanding and comprehension should start.

The need for such think tank increases when there is stagnation in the society, people do not like to listen to each other, fatwas of disbelief, polytheism and arrogance are imposed on small things. In any case, as a result of mutual discussion, many complex issues are solved and collective wisdom yields astonishing results.
The Holy Prophet loved dialogue. That is why it is found in the traditions that once he entered the mosque, some people were discussing and some people were engaged in ZIKR. He preferred to sit with those who were discussing with each other. He used to hold such gatherings in difficult times. On the occasion of the GHAZWA-e-OHAD, the Holy Prophet and his Companions were faced with the question, how to deal with such a large number of enemies?
In this situation, Hazrat Salman Farsi (RA) suggested that we should dig a trench to stop the enemy army. This shows that living societies face new problems; the best way to get out of these problems is to be discussed by intellectuals. It solves problems.
This practice lasted until the time of the Companions, the followers and the jurists, in which there was mutual consultation on modern issues. Its largest center was the Prophet’s Mosque. In the meetings of the jurists, there was a regular dialogue in the light of the arguments of the scholars. This practice lasted for a long time. The biggest advantage of this practice was that competitor’s opinion was known.
What are the arguments for this? Also, what were the problems with your opinion? This criticism was followed by a strong opinion. Ever since everyone built his own mosque, it has given rise to a storm of misunderstandings which later grew into a fistula of sectarianism. Due to which breadth resulted because of discussion has gone.
Modern era has brought flood of problems with it. Vulgarity of west is reaching in every house. Now it is not possible to stop a thought by closing borders and restricting press. That era has ended and the only way left is to discuss issues and present a better solution. New generation is asking for it. No sect can show a blind eye to it.
In these situations a forum was established to address the issues raised in minds of new generation in view of the universal message of Islam. MAJLIS e BASIRAT is an intellectual and ideological forum which is beyond sectarian affiliations.
Its diverse topics and purely literary discussions have made MAJLIS famous in literary circles. Its rules and regulations impress new comers and are cohesion force for previous intellectuals. Rules and regulations are as under:
