These views were expressed by the Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Dr H.E. Omar Zakhilwal during a meeting with a delegation of Ummah Peace Group here on Monday (today).
Dr H.E. Omar Zakhilwal said that from rulers like Mehmood Ghaznavi, Ahmad Shah Abdali and Shahabuddin Ghori to big centres of Tassawuf all are linked up with Afghanistan and that it was shared by both the peoples of Afghanistan and Pakistan. He said that they didn’t need anybody’s help to come closer to each other. He said that their culture was same and that is why he can converse in Pashto while being in Pakistan. He said that our tribes and clans were the same and that he regarded Pakistan as his own country. He said that our problems could be solved on these very foundations.
Chairman Ummah Peace Group Hameed Akhtar Niazi stressed that in the backdrop of Ummah’s present situation the Muslims in general and the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan in particular need to together. He said that religion, civilization and history of both countries demand that they forget the issues of the past and start afresh. He said that the issue of Durand Line was a point of dissension between the two countries and that it should be resolved through dialogue.
Secretary General Ummah Peace Group and Chairman Albasira Saqib Akbar said that the hearts of people of both the countries throb in unison and that Pakistanis have always tried to share the sufferings and grief of their brethren in Afghanistan. Similarly, he said, the people of Afghanistan express good wishes for the people of Pakistan. He praised the measures taken by the Afghan ambassador to improve bilateral relations. He said that the recent visits made by the Chief of Army Staff and other same level dignitaries will help end temporary differences between the two countries.
Other bilateral issues also came under discussion during the meeting. Deputy Chairman Ummmah Peace Group Engineer Dawood Khokhar, Executive Member Ummah Peace Group Gen ® Hidaitullah Niazi, Shamsul Haq Awan and Syed Asad Abbas also attended the meeting.
