Maulana Syed Jaleel Naqvi, who died of protracted illness in Rawalpindi today, was a thinking religious scholar and ardent supporter of Islamic unity. His demise is an unfortunate development for his family as well as for the endeavours to bring Muslims closer to one another. 

His efforts for creating inter-sect harmony and brotherhood would never be forgotten. These views were expressed by the leaders of Milli Yekjehti Council (MYC) while addressing participants of the funeral meeting of Maulana Jaleel Naqvi. Besides religious scholars, those who attended the funeral gathering included MYC leaders Syed Saqib Akbar and Asif Luqman Qazi.
On the occasion Syed Saqib Akbar offered his and MYC leaders’ condolences to Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi on the passing away of Maulana Jaleel Naqvi. It is to be remembered that Allama Syed Jaleel Naqvi was the nephew and son-in-law of Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi. Maulana Jaleel Naqvi was seriously hurt in a road accident some time back which finally led to his demise. He remained very active and his services and contribution to forge unity among Muslims were being appreciated by ulamas and followers belonging of all schools of thought.
The funeral prayers of Maulana Jaleel Naqvi were offered at Yaadgari Hussaini, Commercial Market in Rawalpindi, today. The funeral prayers was led by eminent exegete Allama Shaikh Mohsin Najafi and was also attended among others by Allama Shaikh Shifa Najafi, Allama Hasnain Gardezi, Allama Anisul Hasnain Khan, Allama Asghar Askari, Agha Murtaza Poya, Allama Ishaq Najafi, Raza Shah of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hakim Ahmad Mehmood Suharanpuri, Prof Shamim Haider Rizvi besides a large number of civil society members. Later, the coffin of the deceased was taken to Malho Wali in district Attock, his native town, where will be laid to rest.
