This was stated by MYC Deputy Secretary General Allama Saqib Akbar while addressing an administrative session of the MYC held in Islamabad on Friday in connection with finalizing the arrangements regarding the proposed march.
Al-Quds Day is observed across the world every year on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.
Saqib Akbar lamented that there was no one to stop the brutal repression being unleashed by Israel against Palestinians. He said Israel was doing all this with the support of the US. He said that the Muslim rulers had either adopted total silence or remained confined to issuing condemnatory statements in face of Israeli atrocities. In such a situation, he said, it was necessary that the people of Islamic lands fulfill their responsibilities by standing up and speaking out for the persecuted people of Palestine.
Addressing the session, Secretary General Islami Tehreek Pakistan Allama Arif Wahidi said that the Al-Quds Day was not a day to show support for the oppressed Palestinians only but a day to remember and extend solidarity with all the subjugated and tyrannized people across the globe. He said it was a day to raise one’s voice against injustice, repression and cruelty. He said showing solidarity with the oppressed on this day is like worshipping. He said that the participation of the people in this march will be ensured.
The meeting was also attended by Tanzeem-i-Islami leader, Tanzeemul Arifin leader Advocate Asif, Jamaat-i-Islami leader Shahid Shamsi, Prof Khalid Saifullah and Hafiz Siddique of Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadith, Mirwaiz Tareen of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Tahir Jafari of Imamia Students Organization, Wafa Abbas of Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen, Murtaza Abbas of Palestine Foundation, Asad Abbas of Albasira and a large number of office bearers and activists of other parties and organizations.
On the occasion, the arrangements for holding the Al-Quds march were given final shape and matters like procession route, administrative committees, establishing contacts and installing banners were finalized.
